ORGANIZATION/CONSTITUTION OF
CANTONMENT BOARD
Member
The
Organization of the Cantonment Board consists Chief Executive
Officer (CEO), who is also the Secretary to the various committee and
following Ex-officio/nominated member:-
President: (Ex-officio Station Commander)
S.E.M.O.: (Ex-officio Comdt. Mily Hospital)
G.E.: (Ex-officio)
Distt Magistrate: His Nominee i.e. 1st Class executive Magistrate
The Board also includes four military Members who are nominated by the
Station Commander and eight elected members – (one for each ward). One
amongst the elected members is elected as Vice President.
There is a provision of varied Board. The varied Board consists of

The Cantonment Board is
responsible for the development and civic administration, besides the
municipal needs of the military and civil population residing in the
Cantonment. Hence right from its inception the Cantt Board is subject to
special laws and regulations under the Cantonment Act, 1924.

Varied Board consists of:

One Civilian Member
Presently the Board is varied Board. No civilian member has been nominated
by the Government.
ROLE OF PRESIDENT OF CANTONMENT BOARD
To conduct and preside over all meetings of the Cantt Board and to regulate
conduct of the business thereat.
To Direct Cantonment Board’s Executive, financial and administrative
functions.
To exercise all powers under the Cantonment Act. 2006.
DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER
-
Exercise all the powers and
perform all the duties conferred or impose upon him by or under the
Cantonment Act, 2006.

Prescribe the duties of and
exercise Supervision and control over the acts and proceedings of Officers
and other Employees of the Board.

Custody of all records of the
Board.

Arrange for the performance of
such duties relative to the proceedings of the Board or of any committee
of arbitration constituted under this Act as these bodies may impose on
him.

To comply with every requisition
of the Board on any matter pertaining to the administration of the
Cantonment.
SPECIAL POWER OF THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Executive Officer may, in case of Emergency, with the approval of
President, Cantt Board, direct the execution of any work or the doing of any
act which would ordinarily require the sanction of the Board and the
immediate execution or doing of which is in his opinion necessary for the
service or safety of the public, and may direct that the expense of
executing such work or doing such act shall be paid from the Cantonment
Fund.
